After a whirlwind post-season that saw the Lady Lion volleyball squad go from regional elimination to State Champion Runner-up, I asked Senior Ashton Murphy to share her thoughts on their season.  She said, "I speak for both myself and my fellow senior Jessica Brown when I say that it has been an honor to play on Grace Academy's varsity volleyball team this year.  We have weathered our ups and downs, laughed, shouted, and sometimes cried, and come out the better for it.  We have received a huge measure of grace from God."

Murphy went on to comment on the post-season rollercoaster which lead to their appearance in the State Championship match.  She stated, "a couple of weeks ago, we headed down to Austin Sports Center as a one seed to play in the regional tournament.  We dropped the game to an excellent Sunnybrook team, and went home believing that our season was over.  Then we received an invitation to go to state when another team became injured and unable to compete.  There we fought hard.  We inherited the other team's two seed, and battled our way past some of the best teams in the state to get to the finals.  We fought hard and took a set, but the same Sunnybrook team that beat us in the first game of the postseason beat us in the last game of the season.  We took home the State Runner-up trophy, and both myself and setter Faith Thomas made the All-Tournament team. It has been a wild ride, and I can't wait to see Grace go back and take state next year.  Go Lions!"

As Ms. Murphy speaks for the Seniors, I believe I can speak for all of the faculty and staff when I say...thank you Lady Lions for a great effort and a God honoring season!
