Steps to Admission
Complete the application
-
Attend one of the events listed above. If you need an appointment on a different date, please call the Admission Office
-
Applications for Admission can be obtained by attending an Open House, an Information Session or by scheduling an appointment with the Admission Office.
-
Both parents must read An Introduction to Classical Education by Dr. Christopher Perrin. We also recommend Dorothy Sayers’ 1947 seminal essay, The Lost Tools of Learning. Strongly influenced by Sayers’ essay, Douglas Wilson authored Recovering the Lost Tools of Learning in 1982. Twenty years later, Wilson wrote The Case for Classical Christian Education, which includes pertinent research about the effectiveness of this methodology. Published in 2003, this book is well worth your time, though not required in the admission process.
-
Both parents must read our Student-Parent Handbook.
-
Application files should be completed and received in the admission office by February 1, 2012. Applications completed after this date will be processed in April 2012. Please note that application fees double after May1st.
Complete the application
-
The application has references to submit to teachers, principals or pre-school directors and those in oversight over you and your children at your church home. As the first step toward completing the application, give these forms to your references with stamped envelopes addressed to Grace Academy. Your references should return forms directly to the Admission Office no later than February 1, via US mail or email to:

-
Every applicant is tested for accurate grade level placement with the goal of long-term success in our curriculum. Applicants to grades K-4 are tested by on campus, once the application file is complete. Applicants to Grades 5 and above must register to take the ISEE as early in the process as possible. Registration and test information is available www.iseetest.org. To have test scores sent to Grace Academy please use the code 447600.
Interviews
-
The School Office coordinates appointments for Parent Interviews once the above steps have been completed. Parents must complete their assigned reading prior to the interview.
-
Students applying to Grades 6 and above will interview with the Headmaster.
Notification
-
Once all the above steps are completed, letters will be sent to the family of each student applying to Grace Academy. There are several possible outcomes to the application process: acceptance, deferral, wait pool and decline. If an offer of admission is made, a Registration Agreement will be included with the letter. This agreement, along with the Registration Fee, is due within 10 days of the dated acceptance letter. Letters will also be sent to the families of students who are placed in the waiting pool and to families whose students have been deferred or have not admitted.
-
Parents new to Grace Academy must attend New Parent Orientation in the spring, typically held in May.
-
Parents of students entering Grades 4 and above should plan for summer study sessions at home in Latin and possibly, Shurley Grammar. Summer study recommendations are made on a case-by-case basis with the intent of easing a student’s adjustment to the classical curriculum. Grace Academy high school students may be available as paid tutors. Once registered, please consult with the Admission Office to review any tutoring recommendations.
-
Payment of tuition is required for attendance. See this page for more information.
